Guided Implant Surgery Streamlines Your Treatment
While dental implants have long been considered the most long-lasting, beneficial form foundation for prosthetics, recent advances in 3-D imaging have made implant placement faster, more accurate, and more comfortable than ever before. Drs. Peter K. Hellwig and Eric D. Deverill use high-resolution imaging and careful patient-focused planning to perform guided implant surgery at their office in El Cajon, CA.
Planning Your Surgery
When planning your dental implant surgery, we will conduct 3-D imaging on our cone beam CT scanner to allow our dentists to see your biostructures more clearly and precisely plan the placement of your implants. This high-resolution scan can also help us determine whether you need preparatory procedures such as a bone graft or extraction by assessing the health and density of your bone and tooth structures. These images allow us to assess challenges in your facial and oral anatomy and examine the quality and quantity of your bone tissue prior to surgery.
Placing Your Implants
Guided implant surgery makes the placement of your implants more streamlined and comfortable than conventional freehand surgical techniques. The use of surgical guides can cut your surgery time by approximately 50 percent.
While conventional implant surgery requires at least six weeks of healing time for your gum tissue, guided surgery can reduce your recovery time to about two weeks due to the minimal amount of incisions required.
Fully guided placement technique can also help some patients restore their smile within a day. With 3-D imaging, our doctors can prepare for surgery before you come to our office, perform any necessary extractions, modify your bone tissue, place your implants, and deliver your prosthetics all in one day. For patients who have deficient or reduced jawbone tissue, we also perform implant surgery using the All-on-4® treatment concept to help you receive prosthetics the same day of surgery using fewer implants and incisions than conventional dental implant surgery.
Recover from Surgery Faster
While conventional implant surgery requires at least six weeks of healing time for your gum tissue, guided surgery can reduce your recovery time to about two weeks due to the minimal amount of incisions required. Precise placement and the reduced need for incisions can also lower your risk of complications and post-surgical pain by approximately 90 percent. While your gums heal, we will instruct you on proper care and maintenance to facilitate healing and osseointegration. Once your implants have successfully fused with your jawbone, you will be ready to receive your permanent prosthetics and enjoy restored health and aesthetics.
Why Choose Our Office?
Many other dentists outsource their implant materials to foreign countries to cut the costs to their office, but we only use biocompatible materials made in the U.S. At times, we are even able to purchase materials made locally in San Diego, CA.
