All-on-4® Implant Placement for Patients with Reduced Jawbone Tissue
For years, patients with insufficient jawbone tissue who did not want to undergo preparatory procedures such as a bone graft were told by their dentists that they were not good candidates for dental implants. Drs. Peter K. Hellwig and Eric D. Deverill believe that every patient deserves a healthy, beautiful smile. Using advanced materials and state-of-the-art cone beam imaging, we are able to place dental implants for patients with virtually every oral health condition using the All-on-4® method. Our doctors have over 20 years of experience in the advancing field of implantology and have helped thousands of patients at their El Cajon, CA, practice restore their smiles with lifelong benefits.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
The only way to determine whether you are a good candidate for All-on-4 implants is to visit our office for a consultation with one of our doctors. If you have bone loss due to missing teeth, you could still be a good candidate for All-on-4 implants even without requiring a bone graft. Instead of using bone material from another source to restore your jawbone, we can strategically place two of your implant posts at an angle to support a full arch of teeth. All-on-4 implants are also a good solution for patients who want to receive immediate-load implants.
The Placement Procedure
When placing your implants, we will use our cone beam CT scanner to review intricate, high-resolution scans that accurately map your intraoral biostructures and allow us to precisely plan the placement of your implants. Guided surgery can also help us ensure precise placement, reducing the risk of implant failure and shortening your surgery time.
Even if you have been told that you are not a good candidate for dental implants, All-on-4 treatment can help you restore form and function to your smile almost immediately.
During your dental implant surgery, two of the four implants you receive will be placed at a 45-degree angle to support your new dentures without the need for single implants. Thanks to this technique, we are able to place a temporary full arch of teeth on the same day of your surgery. Over the next four to six months, your gums will heal and your implant posts will fuse with your jawbone. Once you are fully healed, you will be ready to receive your permanent implant-supported dentures.
Benefits of All-on-4 Implants
While traditional dentures allow you to speak and eat properly, you can enjoy additional stability, security, and comfort from your All-on-4 implants, including:
- Accuracy: The use of guided surgery to place your implants helps us lower the risk of implant failure and precisely place your implants in an optimal location.
- Immediacy: As All-on-4 implants are able to support temporary dentures on the same day of your surgery, you can enjoy restored function and improved aesthetics sooner. A bone graft is usually not necessary, even if you have suffered bone recession, greatly reducing treatment time.
- Cost-Efficiency: Unlike traditional implant treatment, All-on-4 does not require as many materials and is a more cost-effective solution.
With proper maintenance and frequent visits to our office, you can enjoy your new implants for a lifetime.
