We have found that when a patient looks for a dentist they often have no idea where their dental appliances or dental crowns or dental work is being made. My belief is that I want "Made in USA" so we invested in two ways of doing that.
One of them is in a rather pricey CAD CAM Machine in our office for same-day beautiful porcelain crowns. The other way is a lab down the street that is under my control, ADA Lab, where we make most of our other appliances.
I only have our work done in America because that way we can control the materials to be devoid of lead, mercury and other deleterious arsenic substances, and our patients appreciate that.
Sometimes in other practices the work is picked up by United States labs that are doing business in the United States and they send all this work, batch work, off to China where it is processed and sent back very inexpensively. The lab makes more money using China as the manufacturer and just getting the profit, and the dentist loses control.
